This is Day 446 of the COVID-19 pandemic here in Toronto, Canada.
When I started feeling some mild gum irritation in my mouth I started researching natural remedies and found myself absolutely fascinated with ancient Ayurvedic solutions. I didn’t expect to become so passionate about learning the health benefits of sesame oil and grinding whole cloves together and swishing for 20 min. per day! I even enjoyed researching and buying my first mortar and pestle.

Within a few days the gum irritation was gone and I will continue to see if this daily practice will heal some receding gum areas. I’ve also been adding organic turmeric powder, organic Ceylon cinnamon and organic Ashwagandha powder to my smoothies because of the anti-inflammatory qualities along with many more health benefits.
Ayurveda is a healthy-lifestyle system in India that has been used for more than 5,000 years. This made me feel confident and excited about using ancient solutions to increase my overall mental and physical health. I’ve actually known about Ayurveda for years but only now has it become important for helping me to stay strong and resilient in this pandemic era.
I'm so happy now that I had that gum irritation because my goal for solving it took me into this new world of self-care! These unexpected discoveries were mirrored in a film I recently saw from the 1930’s. Once I started watching the story it unfolded in unexpected, wonderful ways.
History is Made at Night (1937)
The romantic comedy-drama film, History is Made at Night, is about Irene Vail (Jean Arthur) being rescued from an abusive husband and wealthy ship owner Bruce Vail (Colin Clive) by Paul Dumond (Charles Boyer) a Head Waiter in Paris, France. This entertaining movie is a unique blend of genres and filled with memorable moments and performances.

It’s best that you don’t know any more details and for you to enjoy this unique cinematic experience like I did! All I knew was I loved the actress Jean Arthur from her classic Frank Capra films like Mr. Deeds Goes to Town and wanted to see more of her movies. Just know that this film became a metaphor for my life’s journey of the unexpected turns and discoveries that unfold in amazing ways.
Sometimes when you focus on one path it can take you in other unexpected directions. These branches can also be full of learnings that can help you in multiple areas of your life and health. Be open today for whatever unfolds!
