Tip#1209: The Recipe For Resilience, Perseverance & Indestructible Optimism, Part 15 – Project Power – An American Pickle

This is Day 154 of the COVID-19 quarantine/social distancing here in Toronto, Canada.

This week I continued to feel the quarantine blues with depression-like symptoms of sluggishness, some despair and some hopelessness. But I persevered with my practice of affirmations and prayers for guidance and it led to having two talks with friends from my past that helped re-energize my positivity!

They both reminded me that amazing things could happen if I just define and focus on a vision of what I want in my work and life. I was also reminded that the law of attraction would then reveal the next steps and the right people to make my visions come true. I then realized our conversations were proof that I had already manifested answers and immediately felt rejuvenated with hope and direction!

This manifesting continued with feeling compelled to watch two new movies that contained specific scenes that spoke directly to my heart. These scenes were like being recharged with life-affirming electricity from the universe!

Project Power (2020)

The superhero action film, Project Power, is about a teenage drug dealer Robin (Dominique Fishback), a police officer Frank (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), and a former soldier Art (Jamie Foxx) who team up to stop the distribution of a pill that gives the user superpowers for five minutes. This movie is filled with exciting scenes and special effects showing a variety of powers being used for good and bad purposes.

Despite having elements already seen in the X-Men film series this movie features inspirational messages of finding your own special, unique power, talent and gift. Robin has a passion and gift for rap but lacks the confidence to perform in public. And through the help and encouragement of Art she demonstrates her talent which quickly builds her confidence and blows Art away with her natural skills that didn’t even require a magical pill.

An American Pickle (2020)

The comedy-drama film, An American Pickle, is about a 1919 Jewish immigrant, Herschel Greenbaum (Seth Rogen) who gets preserved in a vat of pickles for 100 years and wakes up in modern-day New York City. He attempts to fit in with the help of his last remaining descendant, Ben (Seth Rogen). This entertaining movie explores inspiring themes on the love and support of family and keeping the memory of family ancestry alive.

The double performance of Rogen and the interactions between his two characters is flawless and amazing to watch. And the scenes that spoke to me deeply were Herschel’s passion and perseverance to build a business of the one thing he knows best which is fermenting pickles. He shows how he is instantly resourceful despite the lack of money and how he overcomes failures and obstacles to achieve even more success.

If you are feeling the quarantine blues or any other kinds of low moods just remember that the right movie can help inspire you to persevere and stay positive. A film could have the perfect scene to give you hope and direction to move forward with confidence. They can remind you that people will be there to help once you open yourself up to that help. Find a film today to re-energize your hope and drive!
