Tip#1243: The Recipe For Resilience, Part 49 – Tampopo

This is Day 396 of the COVID-19 pandemic here in Toronto, Canada.

I’ve been a little on edge because Toronto’s 30 day stay-at-home order was just extended for another two weeks with more restrictions on essential shopping and being in public. This pandemic continues to put pressure on my mental health but I am staying strong and resilient!

Part of my recipe for resilience is to focus on doing things I love. I have currently posted four of eight video clips from my Food & Mood presentation I gave on Zoom on my nutritional food journey and that has helped me focus on the positives in my life. And the thought that my food tips are helping others through social media is re-energizing to my spirit!

Thankfully, I have also seen a rise in followers on my primary Instagram account. They have mostly been other foodies from around the world like India, Asia and the UK which is exciting. It’s been thrilling to see delicious meals from different countries and how unique each dish looks.

All this must have inspired me to watch the very first foodie film I ever saw that introduced me to the blissful beauty of Ramen soup!

Tampopo (1985)

The comedy, drama film, Tampopo, is about a pair of truck drivers, Gorō (Tsutomu Yamazaki) and sidekick Gun (Ken Watanabe) helping Tampopo (Nobuko Miyamoto), the widowed owner of a struggling, roadside ramen noodle shop. The story is intertwined with various vignettes about the relationship of love and food. Also starring Kōji Yakusho, Rikiya Yasuoka and Kinzō Sakura.

This is possibly the most epic foodie film because it covers so many sensual joys and erotic pleasures of eating! This movie captures so much of how food excites all our senses and, of course, there are countless scenes of delicious foods. I saw the digital restoration from the The Criterion Collection BluRay and it was stunning!

If you are a food lover and haven’t seen this then make this your number one movie to watch! It was made for foodies and also provides a multitude of life lessons and important success tips for entrepreneurs.
