Spider-Man: Brand New Day 2026
It’s been over four years since I wrote my last blog post in May of 2022. I was finally compelled to return thanks to a fantastic Marvel movie! I felt deeply inspired after seeing the opening day matinee of Spider-Man: Brand New Day in the summer of 2026.
A lot has happened in my life and career since 2022 and these overwhelming issues needed my full attention. I was tested on many levels and, at times, felt so hopeless and alone. I even had to take a break from all my social media. I needed numerous, daily therapies to help me manage the relentless mental stress. And I needed to learn how to regulate my shattered and battered nervous system. On top of all this I was still coping with seasonal affective disorder that comes each year in the Fall.
Thankfully I’m now coming out of this dark period and isolation and seeking out new, supportive communities. And breaking out of isolation is part of the insightful life lessons in the latest Spider-Man movie.
Here are three points for inspiration & motivation…
1. Escape & Release
The film immediately helped me escape the stress I was feeling. My imagination was instantly engaged when I saw Spider-Man swinging around New York City skyscrapers. The thrilling visuals and opening moody, melancholy music enveloped me like a warm blanket. The film instantly helped break the mental loops I felt trapped in.
I then experienced two types of release. I laughed at some funny scenes and cried several times at emotional moments. I felt lighter for the rest of the day because of this release!
2. Mirror
In the opening scenes, Spider-Man aka Peter Parker, became an immediate mirror for the loneliness I’ve been feeling these past few years. In the previous film, Peter’s closest friends, Ned and MJ, had their memories of Peter erased and he also tragically lost his Aunt May. I could feel Peter’s pain. I could feel his loneliness. And I felt comfort feeling I wasn’t alone in my isolation.
The story also triggered mirror neurons within me. Mirror neurons are specialized brain cells that activate both when you perform an action AND when you observe someone else performing it. So when I watched Peter take steps to let go of his fears, I was inspired to do the same in my own life. I was motivated to mirror Peter’s courage and actions.
3. Vision
In the end, this film helped re-energize my inner drive and gave me an exciting vision of goals I wanted to achieve. I left the movie theatre brimming with positive emotional energy and I could clearly see goals I wanted to achieve for breaking out of my own challenges.
Seeing Peter find new confidence gave me a vision for myself of what I wanted more of: super confidence, super courage and ultimately knowing I don’t have to live life alone.
I highly recommend this film for the many inspirational life lessons you can take and apply to your own life. I hope it re-activates your indestructible optimism as it did for me!
