Tip#1255: The Recipe For Resilience, Part 61 – Night at the Museum Trilogy

This is Day 508 of the COVID-19 pandemic here in Toronto, Canada.

This summer I continue to find ways of letting go and declutter my home by doing regular donations to Value Village. They have a great reward system with discount coupons for each donation and I love the idea that getting rid of stuff creates a space for the new to come into my life!

I recently had a thrilling thrift store find after I did a donation. I found 3 BluRays of the extended Lord of the Rings trilogy that each contained 4 discs. And then to my amazement I found BluRay box sets for 3 of 4 seasons of the Battlestar Galactica remake! I’ve been wanting to own and rewatch these shows because they were excellent, inspirational examples of extreme resilience and perseverance. The bonus was that they were each $9.99 and in excellent condition!

The act of letting go in order for the new to show up was reflected in my revisiting another trilogy. Seeing these three chapters together of a movie hero’s journey was an emotional experience in many ways.

Night at the Museum (2006)

While rewatching this film I resonated with Ben Stiller’s character Larry who needed an immediate job and when he asked, this unique, magical opportunity as a museum night guard fell right in his lap. This inspired me with my dream of becoming a professional Food Influencer & Content Creator and that magical opportunities can happen.

Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian (2009)

I loved seeing Amy Adams as Amelia Earhart again because she was so full of life and a joy of living and adventure! And Larry later learns the key to happiness that Robin Williams’s character Theodore Roosevelt was trying to tell him: The key to happiness is doing what you love with people that you love. I loved this so much it has become my mantra!

Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb (2014)

Like the previous film, this chapter features some stunning visuals like a fight scene within a maze illustration by M.C. Escher. But there was a sadness I felt throughout the film because I could feel Larry’s knowing that his museum adventure was going to end. This was also Robin Williams last film before he died and I was emotional seeing his final scene.

In the end Larry had to say goodbye to all his museum friends in order to move onto his next chapter in life. And, of course, this touched my soul and encouraged my need to enter my own new chapter.
