Tip#564: There Are Heroes Around You, Part 3 – Beasts of the Southern Wild

Stories of heroes have emerged from the Colorado movie theatre shootings I wrote about in previous tip#564. There were three incredible acts of heroism by those who died saving their loved ones. Matthew R. McQuinn, age 27 dove on top of his girlfriend and her older brother to shield them and they both survived. Jonathan Blunk, age 26 also threw himself in front of his friend saving her life. Alex Teves, age 24 hurled his girlfriend to the floor and saved her from bullets that ended up hitting him. Read more: Click here

Beasts of the Southern Wild (2012)

The fantasy drama Beasts of the Southern Wild is about a fearless, strong-willed six-year-old girl named Hushpuppy (Quvenzhané Wallis) living with her father, Wink (Dwight Henry) in a southern Delta community. Throughout the story and while surviving a catastrophe that floods her neighborhood, Hushpuppy demonstrates extraordinary courage, resilience and defiance far beyond her age. And though she has a volatile relationship with her ailing father she later becomes a hero to him

You can almost taste, smell and feel the textures of this unique film. It is also filled with inspiring life quotes that come from a six-year old's point of view. She was mesmerizing to see as she consistently expressed an inner strength that shined during so many dark times she went through. The young actress is stunning and there is already an Oscar buzz for her being nominated. See movie trailer: Click here

Out of the catastrophes in films and in real-life can emerge stories of ordinary people doing extraordinary facts of bravery. Be inspired by these stories and then those that died would have passed on something deeply important to your life. And one day your own acts of heroism will inspire others!
