Tip#1095: Remember Your Indestructible Optimism, Part 6 - Solo: A Star Wars Story in 4DX

I just had a fantastic, blissful week and it’s because I’ve been putting extra attention to practicing the Law of Attraction! I attended two very special events that each had difficult challenges and roadblocks to get through. Thankfully I was able to focus on the positives instead of the negatives to get there.

For one of the events my friend David Pedro and his wife Tricia were hosting a special fundraiser in memory of their daughter called Star Wars for Zoe. It included a special pre-opening day screening of Solo: A Star Wars Story in 4DX. 4DX is a special sensory theatre with moving seats and environmental effects to match the images in the film such as smoke for explosions, mists of water, jets of air and thumps to the back of your seat.

I already heard pros and cons about 4DX that were not appealing and the only seats available were in the front row. And with this being a 3D screening I knew this was going to be hard on my eyes and not going to be an enjoyable cinematic experience. But as the event got closer I refocused my thoughts and feelings. Instead of focusing on my needs I focused on just attending this event totally in honor for Zoe. That wonderful change of attitude freed me from the anxiety I’d been feeling.

So finally when I was in the 4DX theatre, I was sitting there in the front row focused on enjoying meeting the new people I sat with, being close to friends seated elsewhere and seeing David and Tricia give a heartfelt presentation about Zoe. And thankfully there were 15 minutes worth of ads and trailers because it took that long for my eyes to adjust to the painful brightness and being so close to the screen. In the end the Law of Attraction helped me enjoy this special event and was an amazing test for maintaining my indestructible optimism!

Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018)

The space western film, Solo: A Star Wars Story, is about the adventures of a young Han Solo (Alden Ehrenreich) prior to the events of the movie Star Wars: A New Hope, Episode 4. The story shows how Han met Chewbacca and found his iconic spaceship, the Millennium Falcon. Also starring is Woody Harrelson as Tobias Beckett, Emilia Clarke as Qi’ra, Paul Bettany as Dryden Vos and Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian. See: movie trailer

This film has been getting mixed reviews and I had a lot of pros and cons about it. So it’s best you see it for yourself and see what you think. One of the cons was, from the first announcement of the actor playing Han I didn’t feel he was right for such an iconic character. I felt Ansel Elgort from Baby Driver would have been perfect (see tip#1052). As for the pros, I loved the unexpected twists that happened and an amazing fight scene with Qi’ra.

My 4DX Theatre Experience

As for the 4DX theatre experience I again had pros and cons. The pros included my seat moving and tilting fluidly with spaceships that were flying on screen. Thrilling stuff! The cons included watching the fights where someone gets struck in the back (or falls on their back) and feeling like someone just kicked the back of your chair. Not fun! So some sensory effects enhanced the movie but others took me out of it.

In the end I was so happy and grateful I could be with close friends, share a unique cinematic experience and celebrate a special memorial for my friend’s daughter. And this wouldn’t have happened if I allowed a pessimistic mindset to rule my decisions. My indestructible optimism shined brightly and led me out of my ruminating of negative thinking.

So always remember that developing indestructible optimism takes daily practice to maintain a strong, focused and positive mindset. Studying the Law of Attraction and NLP (neural linguistic programming) are two fantastic tools to explore.

You can start right now and look out your window and if it’s sunny out then smile and drink in the sunlight and warmth. And if it’s dark and cloudy then know in your heart that the sun is still there radiating its soothing rays of sunshine to re-ignite your optimism!
