Letting go was also a big theme with beloved musicians and actors that passed away in 2016. David Bowie, Prince, Alan Rickman, Debbie Reynolds and Carrie Fisher are just some examples that left us. In the end their legacies will endure depending on how we each remember them and keep their memories alive.
Kubo and the Two Strings (2016)

Kubo’s adventure is filled with inspirational and motivational themes such as perseverance, resilience, letting go, family and the power of storytelling. Kubo learns these lessons as well as the importance of surrounding yourself with supportive, loving relationships.
His magical abilities to bring paper to life and creating origami characters, like the samurai, was also amazing to watch unfold! (pun intended!)
You will also be dazzled by the incredible attention to detail in all the costumes, settings and characters based on Japanese history. When you realize that each facial expression, blowing hair, each wave in a storm and other movements on screen were all created through stop-motion animation it will make your jaw drop with awe and wonder! For example, the Skeleton Demon (based on the Gashadokuro of Japanese folklore) is the largest stop-motion puppet ever built, standing at sixteen feet tall. Also the character of Kubo had over 48 million possible facial expressions and a total of 23,187 prototype faces that were created for him. Check out these three fascinating featurettes:
