One of the biggest lessons I learned from my life-altering situation seven years ago this month was learning to live in a back-to-basics home (see tip#400). I now enjoy living with just the essentials and continue to declutter and do spring cleanings. I am currently in the process of clearing my artworks, old clothes, papers, etc. (see tip#1035). My live/work space always feels so much better after I let go of old stuff!
Decluttering my home is also an exercise in self-love and self-empowerment (see tip#1029) which is a big part of my lifestyle changes that has improved my health and wellness. This exercise does require the ability and courage to let go as well as having a creative vision of how you want your home to look like. Thankfully there are great films that can help inspire you on these factors and more!
Maudie (2017)
The drama film, Maudie, is based on a true story about an arthritic Nova Scotia woman named Maud Lewis (Sally Hawkins) working as a housekeeper for Everett Lewis (Ethan Hawke) while she hones her skills as an artist. This wonderful, heartfelt movie features outstanding performances by Hawke and especially Hawkins who is truly Oscar worthy.
Sally Hawkins as Maud is absolutely mesmerizing! She projects such a strong leadership quality and playful spirit despite her physical challenges and social awkwardness. And her ability to stand her ground with the volatile Everett is inspiring to watch. She has a strong vision of how to improve his home with her creative talents and perseveres despite his resistance to change or letting go.

Normally I would share a movie trailer link but I highly recommend you see this film without knowing any more details. This is one of the preview films I mentioned in tip#1038 and it was so much better not seeing any footage before hand. So if you are interested in art/painting, Canadian east coast scenery and being inspired by a strong female hero brimming with indestructible optimism then go see this amazing movie today!
Movies can inspire you to look at your home or life challenges with new eyes and give you the vision to make positive changes. Movie heroes can help you find the courage to declutter and let go of whatever is blocking your way. And if these heroes are based on real-life people then they can inspire you to believe anything is possible!
