Science fiction films have always excited me to expand my imagination and believe in the power of creative visualization (see Tip#568). For example during times of depression (seasonal affective disorder SAD) back in the 90’s I wrote and recorded many "melancholy ballads" that helped lift me up. I wrote lyrics that envisioned a future time when I would be feeling better. See: Rain of Angels music video
Years later when I’d experience other adversities and feelings of hopelessness I’d listen to my songs and they instantly made me feel better and not so alone. It’s as if my past self had created these songs knowing my future self would benefit from them. Similarly actor Matthew McConaughey referred to his future self in his inspiring acceptance speech for his 2014 Best Actor Oscar (See: tip759).
Now he is starring in a film that explores this theme even more that will expand your mind if you just hop onto this wild cinematic ride!
Interstellar (2014)
The science fiction adventure film, Interstellar, is about former NASA test pilot
Cooper (Matthew McConaughy) who must leave his family and travel beyond this galaxy to find a new home for mankind. This epic film explores the emotional pain of leaving loved ones behind on a dying Earth while presenting visually stunning wonders of interstellar travel. See: movie trailer
For almost three hours I felt fully immersed in this film and highly recommend seeing on the big screen. Some of the music and many of the scenes invoke the magic of the classic film 2001: A Space Odyssey. And despite having some flaws, this movie is about mind-bending ideas of quantum realities and how love is a powerful factor that can affect time and space. It is also an inspiring movie about resilience and creative problem solving.
I have a deep passion for Sci Fi films especially alternate reality and time travel stories. So I immediately embraced the mind-blowing concepts that are revealed at the end of the movie. These concepts inspired my art, music and my ability to creatively visualize my goals and dreams for the future.
I highly recommend seeing this film to help expand your mind and imagination. All you have to do is enjoy the ride and focus on the themes and messages you resonate with. It just could be your future self sending you a message!
“Love is the one thing that transcends time and space.”
