Tip#424: Surround Yourself With Friends & Allies – The King's Speech

With only a week away from having to move from my current space I am extremely confident I will find a new home. A big part of it is because I have surrounded myself with friends and allies eagerly supporting my goal on a daily basis.

While I've been in this temporary space for the past 6 months, I arranged to have weekly telephone meetings with a good friend who is also my Live Lighter/Writer Guru (see her website). I also have other friends, life and career coaches I meet with on a two-week basis. We discuss the challenges we are each going through and give each other incredible support and empowering solutions.

And through my database of contacts I have cultivated supportive relationships over the years that are also assisting me. I feel blessed to have such amazing support especially in my latest search for a new home. The daily encouragement I receive fills me with the positive emotional energy I need to head into the unknown once again with enthusiasm and confidence.

The King's Speech 2010

The movie The King's Speech is based on a true story of King George VI (Colin Firth) and how he is assisted by his speech therapist Lionel Logue (Geoffrey Rush) to overcome his stammer. This is an inspiring story of how friendships develop through the courage to trust and stand by one another.

It also celebrates the support a person can give to someone who desperately needs it. Logue was so confident he could help the King (then Prince Albert) that eventually this confidence grows within the King. This could only happen when the King lets go of his fears and trusts in Logue's expertise.

Good People

Having friends and allies are about having good people who will stand by you no matter what. They understand your strengths and weaknesses and will support you in difficult times. They will be there to encourage you to keep moving forward when you feel like giving up.

Cultivate compassionate friends and allies and you will always feel confident and energized in whatever journey you travel on or challenge you need to face.

  3. Hi Lesya - Glad you loved the movie too. I was so surprised at how good The King's Speech was. Now I'm rooting for it for best picture at Oscars. Though I still have to see The Fighter and see how it is!

  4. Hi Candice - The film was not a movie I was going to see last year partly because of the original poster. I read that even the director Tom Hooper hated the image. So I posted a more recent poster for the Golden Globe nominations instead.

  5. I have to see this movie knowing it reminds you of our weekly MMMs, Emmanuel! Our meetings have become a primary source of juicy motivation for me and I'm happy you feel the same. Thanks for sharing it with your readers - I'm certain everyone would benefit from a regular support system like the one we've set up. :)
