A day after I wrote my last post about the sunny weather I was experiencing (tip#573) the skies turned dark and it rained all day. The dreary, heavy air seemed to amplify some underlying stress and I slipped into a feeling of hopelessness. It was frustrating because I had plans to be productive with work and ended up just floating aimlessly.
Thankfully I remembered to reach out to two friends who reminded me that "This too will pass" and that I was not alone. I was also drawn to watching J.K. Rowling's Harvard commencement speech which lifted my spirits immensely. Here is an inspiring sample about Rowling's benefits from experiencing divorce and struggling financially as a single mother:
“Failure meant a stripping away of the inessential... And so rock bottom became a solid foundation on which I rebuilt my life... Failure gave me an inner security that I had never attained by passing examinations. Failure taught me things about myself that I could have learned no other way. I discovered that I had a strong will, and more discipline than I had suspected; I also found out that I had friends whose value was truly above the price of rubies."

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007)
The fantasy film Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is the 5th installment of the movie series in which Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) discovers powerful allies already around him called the Order of the Phoenix. One of the members is Harry's godfather Sirius Black (Gary Oldman) who shares this powerful statement to Harry...
"You're not a bad person. You're a very good person, who bad things have happened to."
Up until that point in the film series Harry had been through much pain and darkness and would continue to do so in the upcoming stories. But it's comforting words like these and the friends and allies Harry has that helps him find his inner strength to persevere.
Sirius Black's statement also spoke deeply to me as did J.K. Rowling's Harvard speech. They brought me comfort and inspiration to persevere through the dark days that unexpectedly show up.
Find comfort in knowing you are not a bad person. You too are a VERY GOOD PERSON, who bad things have happened to. You too will get through your own rainy, dark days. And always remember there are good people ready to help you anytime you need!

HOW TO SEE MOVIES AS INSPIRATIONAL LEARNING TOOLS - Over 1,000 Movie Tips For Dealing with Depression & Difficult Times

Tip#573: You Can Rewrite Your Life, Part 2 - Frequency
The beautiful, sunny weather here in Toronto continues to fill my spirit with joy. I can really feel how good it feels as the bright sunshine warms my face and soothing breezes blow through my hair. For me, this is one of the feelings of abundance I am becoming more aware of as I continue to read the Creative Visualization book by Shakti Gawain (see tip#568).
There is a powerful exercise I've been doing from the Writing Affirmations chapter that the author says has brought some of the fastest changes into her life. What you do is write an affirmation in the first, second and third person 10 to 20 times in a row once or twice a day. The written word has much power over our minds and with this technique you are writing and reading at the same time which is a double shot of energy! You are actually rewriting your reality!
Example:
I, Emmanuel, am feeling joyful abundance in all areas of my life
Emmanuel, you are feeling joyful abundance in all areas of your life
Emmanuel is feeling joyful abundance in all areas of his life
Frequency (2000)
The science fiction thriller movie Frequency is about 36-year old homicide detective John Sullivan (James Caviezel) who is able to talk to his father Frank (Dennis Quaid) still alive 30 years into the past via an old CB radio. Since John knows the day and details of his father's death, he is able to help his father survive. In doing so they rewrite history causing a series of shocking alternate events that must be corrected.
In the end, this film is an emotional and heartwarming "what if" story of what it would be like if you could rewrite history and bring back a loved one who had passed. And this is a film that you can view to inspire your ability to rewrite your life through affirmations and creative visualization.
Your mind and heart are powerful factors for manifesting what you hope and dream for. The repetition of affirmations is just one of many techniques to reprogram your thinking so dramatic changes can occur in your life. Believe you can rewrite your life and you are already one big step towards making it happen!

Tip#572: Manifesting Miracles - Ruby Sparks
Miraculous events and people are manifesting more and more into my life! (see tip#571) For example, One day I was feeling stuck about my finances and followed my gut to get some fresh air and do some errands. During that time out I had a very strong thought to contact my Productivity Consultant, Joseph Rodrigues (see tip#537). I was on the subway approaching my station close to my home when I thought again to contact Joseph right away. As the subway doors opened something told me to look to the left of me. Exiting the same subway train was Joseph!
I was stunned! I was speechless! And Joseph just approached me smiling. I actually heard a voice inside me say "You did this. You manifested this person!" Joseph then spent some quality time giving me helpful advice on my financial situation. All the while my whole sense of being felt altered. This synchronistic encounter felt like it was more proof of my abilities to manifest miracles.
Ruby Sparks (2012)
The romantic comedy movie Ruby Sparks is about a struggling novelist Calvin (Paul Dano) who writes about a fictional character Ruby Sparks (Zoe Kazan) that feels like his dream girl. One day Calvin walks into his kitchen and Ruby Sparks has come to life! Calvin is stunned that this has happened but soon goes on a journey of learning what it is to be in a loving, unconditional relationship with this dream girl. See: movie trailer
Seeing this movie was extremely surreal because it mirrored what I was doing in my life to manifest the soulful, supportive relationships I wanted (see tip#571). I have been creating a new vision board and writing affirmations of what I am seeking and they have been coming true! And while watching this movie I got shivers up my spine because I again heard that voice inside me say "You did this. You manifested this movie!"
Manifesting anything from our thoughts into the physical may sound like fantasy or science fiction and yet why not be open to the possibility? Be open to the idea that you have the power to write the life story you most desire! Fill your story with the soulful, supportive relationships you really want. Tap into your inner, playful child and allow your imagination to flow today!

Tip#571: Manifest Soulful Supportive People - Emmanuel’s Gift
I just had a stunning week of meeting soulful new connections! I believe it is the result of doing the 40-Day Prosperity Plan (see tip#562) from The Abundance Book and the book I am currently reading called Creative Visualization (see tip#568). One of these experiences was at a massive networking event in Toronto.
First, a free ticket magically was offered the morning of the event. Secondly, I arrived brimming with positive energy and the intention of meeting "soulful, supportive people". Thirdly, 90% of the people I met were people I felt were "soulful new connections". And that percentage is proof that the books I am reading is working because there were over 700 people at this event! Somehow I wasted no time in a sea of people each with their own agendas. It was exciting meeting people who truly believed in my mission with movies AND wanted to support me in any way they could. It was exhilarating!
Emmanuel's Gift (2005)
The documentary Emmanuel's Gift is about the life of Emmanuel Ofosu Yeboah who heroically helped people in his home in Ghana to change their perceptions of physically disabled people. He was born missing most of his right leg and yet made it his mission to ride a bike across Ghana. He attracted worldwide attention and support which led him to meeting other disabled heroes in the USA. The movie itself is narrated by Oprah Winfrey. See: movie trailer
Here are some empowering quotes from the film…
"To set a goal is an honorable and noble thing to do. To complete a goal is even more noble."
"When you do something because it's in your heart and in your gut, it usually works out."
"Emmanuel's mission is to change perceptions. This kid was the epitome of doing whatever you can with the limited resources you have."
When Emmanuel was growing up and facing many adversities he had a handful of soulful people, like his mother, who believed in him. When he focused on his mission in life he attracted soulful support from across the globe. Let his story inspire you to believe you can surround yourself with people with heartfelt intentions of helping you with your dreams and goals.
Make this affirmation your own and watch your own magic unfold:
I AM so happy and grateful for all the soulful, supportive people I meet each and every day!

Tip#570: How Movies Mirror Your Inner Strengths, Part 2 - Nim's Island
"The thing about courage is it's something that we have to learn and relearn all our whole lives. Now it's not just in you it's in every choice we make. Each and every day."
Nim’s Island
After posting the list of 5 movies for helping visualization and imagination (see tip#568) I took my own movie prescription and watched Nim's Island. Even though it is a light family film it still delivered a meaningful, heartfelt message that my spirit really needed to hear! It was a perfect example of the power and magic of a movie!
Nim's Island (2008)
The adventure-fantasy movie Nim's Island is about an 11 year-old girl Nim (Abigail Breslin) living on a secret tropical island with her scientist father Jack (Gerard Butler). Nim is a big fan of Alex Rover the hero of a series of adventure books written by Alexandra Rover (Jodie Foster). The surprise is that Alexandra is the opposite of the hero she created and suffers from agoraphobia, a fear of open spaces. See: Movie trailer
Alexandra and Nim connect via the internet and when Nim is in an emergency asks her to come to the island immediately. Alexandra realizes she must face and overcome her fears to help Nim. Through it all she has the spirit of her heroic character Alex (also Gerard Butler) to motivate her. These scenes were inspiring because this is what it feels like when I am inspired by my movie heroes. It's like they speak to me. They help mirror my greatness AND hidden potential!
When you make an emotional connection with a movie hero, it is like making a soul connection with a person giving you a special message. That message is saying, "You have the same courage and strengths you see in me! What I can do YOU can do!" Embrace this message and do your very best to take action with whatever challenge you face today!
Alex Rover: "Be the hero of your own life story."
Alexandra Rover: "Don't hand me that line - I wrote that line!"

Tip#569: Find a Balance - The Warrior’s Way
As I write this the weather this morning is absolutely gorgeous. The air is crisp and the sun is shining brightly. It's a big difference from the past few days where it's been raining constantly. The darkness reminded me that there will always be a need for balance with the sun and rain, good days and bad, dark and the light.
The Warrior's Way (2010)
The fantasy action film The Warrior's Way is about a 19th century Asian warrior named Yang (Jang Dong Gun) who refuses an assassination order of a baby and flees to a western town in America. With the baby he takes up the role of the local laundry man in a town filled with colorful characters like the drunk Ron (Geoffrey Rush). With the help of a spritely young woman named Lynne (Kate Bosworth) Yang discovers how to appreciate music, gardening, cleaning clothes and other domestic duties.
See: Movie trailer
The movie itself is an incredible fusion of film genres: Western, Martial Arts, Comedy and Fantasy. It is visually dazzling and rich with color and action. Somehow the film finds a way to balance all these different genres into an enjoyable cinematic experience. It's a beautiful parallel for the warrior Yang and his choice to find balance in his own life.
When life is no longer feeling right or fulfilling it is always a good time to re-assess where you have come from and what is missing. The uneasy feelings you have are a signal that something is not balanced. Find what is missing in your life and integrate it. Like the sun and rain, the dark and the light, there will always be a need for balance.

Tip#568: Visualization & Your Imagination, Part 1 – 6 Movie Tips
Ahhhhh! I continue to be in a state of bliss while enjoying the sunny weather, clear blue skies and the cool breezes of early August. Part of my feel good state is because of an amazing book called Creative Visualization by Shakti Gawain. It has helped re-activate my imagination which is one of my greatest gifts. It has also helped deepen my meditations and add fun with picturing elements that would take my life to new heights!
There have also been inspiring stories in the news recently. On Aug. 5th NASA's most advanced Mars rover "Curiosity" landed beside a Martian mountain. While here on Earth swimmer Michael Phelps made Olympic history with 22 medals at the London 2012 Olympics. Phelps himself attributes creative visualization as a key to his successes. And the idea of exploring Mars also started with people imagining it would happen. Visualization and imagination go hand in hand and can also be demonstrated through the magic of movies!

Tip#567: Go from Unconscious to Conscious - Total Recall (2012)
Have you ever had an epiphany that suddenly made something absolutely clear in your life? This happened to me recently and I've been in a state of bliss in the past couple of days. I am so excited to share details of what triggered it and how I am learning to manifest the reality I desire. I plan to do this in upcoming posts.
To start, the universe once again provided uncanny synchronicity with the release of the remake of Total Recall. Seeing this film confirmed, on a soul level, that I am making a breakthrough in my consciousness. I am having my own "total recall". There is a quote from the movie’s lead actor Colin Farrell that resonated with me and hopefully for you too in the current issue of Cineplex Magazine:
"This is, for me, the story of a man who's going from being unconscious to being conscious."
Total Recall (2012)
The science fiction movie Total Recall is a remake of the 1990 film and based on a short story by Philip K. Dick called "We Can Remember It for You Wholesale". In 2084, factory worker Doug Quaid (Colin Farrell) is missing something in his life and visits Rekall (pronounced recall) a company able to implant artificial memories for fulfilling any fantasy you desire. When Quad requests a fantasy of being a secret agent the procedure seems to reactivate dormant memories of being a real agent.
The art direction and texture of this film is incredibly rich and detailed. I loved all the future tech, cityscapes and vehicles throughout the story. It was also exciting to see actor Bokeem Woodbine on the screen whom I met in Toronto when the film was shooting (see tip#489). That surreal connection is what I am experiencing in my life. The line between illusion and real life is blurring as I become more conscious of my true, authentic self just like Quaid in the film.
Most of the movie heroes we see are on a journey to unearthing and understanding who they truly are. Their cinematic journeys are there to inspire you to discover who you are. Are you ready to wake up and become more aware of your purpose in life? Then start today and take a step from being unconscious to being conscious!
"I had a professor once who liked to tell his students that there are only 10 different plots in all of fiction. Well I'm here to tell you he was wrong. There is only one... Who am I?"

Tip#566: Feel a Sense of Community, Part 1 – Red Dog
Last weekend I was up at my friend's cottage which has been an annual adventure of soothing swims, fresh air and friendship bonding for 8 years. Sadly, it may be the last time because my dear friends have sold the cottage.
So I did what I always did while there, I soaked up every single second of outdoor bliss with all my heart and all my senses. And I will remember the special feeling of community that always lifted my spirits high.
Red Dog (2011)
The movie Red Dog is based on a legendary true story of a red dog who united a local community while roaming the Australian outback. Red Dog becomes a source of companionship for employees of an iron ore excavation company, helps someone find a wife and even helps a depressed man find the will to live. Everyone had a personal story to tell about Red Dog. See: movie trailer
This film has a quirky, heartwarming charm and it is definitely uplifting. The colorful characters of the community reminded me of my cottage memories over the years of friends coming together in the great outdoors. Stories are shared while laughter, tears, anger, epiphanies and learning have come up while being together. Ultimately it was a chance for me to heal in some special way.
Make sure you have a sense of community in your life. Soulful connections can be a powerful source of support and caring that can out weight the value of gold. The real gold you will have are friends you can count on in difficult times AND the feeling of love that can energize you to be your best. Cultivate your sense of community today!
