I am still buzzing from finally seeing a movie I've known about for years called The Shift. It was very synchronistic timing and it re-affirmed that I am exactly where I am suppose to be in my life and career despite the occasional feelings of doubt. It's a film that also re-affirmed all I've been learning from the 40-Day Prosperity Plan in The Abundance Book (see tip#562). I am happy to say I completed this empowering program yesterday!
I am a very spiritual man and am trusting that the path I've chosen to live is for my highest good and the good of our planet. Some days I am very confident and enthusiastic of my choices and there are days when I feel disconnected and unsure. And yet maintaining my confidence and joy at all times is what I've been learning and it's about believing that I already have unlimited abundance within and around me. Everything I experience outside myself is just a reflection of my thoughts and feelings inside me.
The Shift (2009)
The movie The Shift is a hybrid film that combines interviews with a cinematic story. It is about three people experiencing a transformation in each of their challenges in life. The story integrates thought-provoking spiritual insights as a camera crew interviews self-help author Dr. Wayne Dyer. The stories touch on how in the second half of our lives we must change our way of thinking in order to achieve our deepest desires and dreams. See official website: Click here
The film also inspires you to feel it is not too late in your life to make positive changes. On the official website Dyer says…
"I am 68 years old and I have a new career. When I was asked to do this film, I didn't think 'I'm too old to do something I've never done before.' I thought 'I am open to everything. I am willing to change and to learn.' I’m more proud of this film than of anything I've ever done before."
It is positive thinking like Dyer's that inspires me to eliminate doubt from my thoughts. And my ultimate take-away from the film was to keep practicing the methods and tools I've been sharing with you on staying positive, passionate and persevere towards your dreams and goals!
Whatever age you are right now, remember it is never too late to shift your thinking, your career or your lifestyle. Be open to unexpected shifts that dramatically pull or push you onto a whole new path. Have faith. You may be on a whole new direction that leads you to what you truly desire in life!
Quotes from The Shift movie:
"You don't attract what you want you attract what you are."
"Your authentic self is way beyond the ego."
"Your purpose will always be found in service."
"You are only a thought away from changing your life."
"Your quantum moment or shift can be caused by a comment, an event in your life, a hardship you suffer or anything at all."

Tip#564: There Are Heroes Around You, Part 3 – Beasts of the Southern Wild
Stories of heroes have emerged from the Colorado movie theatre shootings I wrote about in previous tip#564. There were three incredible acts of heroism by those who died saving their loved ones. Matthew R. McQuinn, age 27 dove on top of his girlfriend and her older brother to shield them and they both survived. Jonathan Blunk, age 26 also threw himself in front of his friend saving her life. Alex Teves, age 24 hurled his girlfriend to the floor and saved her from bullets that ended up hitting him. Read more: Click here
Beasts of the Southern Wild (2012)
The fantasy drama Beasts of the Southern Wild is about a fearless, strong-willed six-year-old girl named Hushpuppy (Quvenzhané Wallis) living with her father, Wink (Dwight Henry) in a southern Delta community. Throughout the story and while surviving a catastrophe that floods her neighborhood, Hushpuppy demonstrates extraordinary courage, resilience and defiance far beyond her age. And though she has a volatile relationship with her ailing father she later becomes a hero to him
You can almost taste, smell and feel the textures of this unique film. It is also filled with inspiring life quotes that come from a six-year old's point of view. She was mesmerizing to see as she consistently expressed an inner strength that shined during so many dark times she went through. The young actress is stunning and there is already an Oscar buzz for her being nominated. See movie trailer: Click here
Out of the catastrophes in films and in real-life can emerge stories of ordinary people doing extraordinary facts of bravery. Be inspired by these stories and then those that died would have passed on something deeply important to your life. And one day your own acts of heroism will inspire others!

Tip#563: The Heroes That Stay With Us – Jessica Ghawl (Redfield) - The Dark Knight Rises
As of this writing it is just two days after the tragic shootings in a Colorado movie theatre for the midnight premiere of The Dark Knight Rises. It is also five days after the worst mass shooting in Toronto at a suburban block party barbecue. And it is just over a month ago in early June when a shooting occurred here in the Eaton Centre food court.
This is an emotional post for me because I love going to see movies in the theatre and I was in shock to learn of the tragic deaths of other movie fans losing their lives or injured in a movie theatre. I heard a snippet of this news just before seeing an opening day screening of The Dark Knight Rises and so it effected how I watched the film.
And then there's the story of Jessica Ghawl, a fellow blogger and one of the people who lost their lives in Colorado. Her story is profoundly sad because her last blog post was about when she was visiting Toronto at the Eaton Centre the day of the shooting. She suddenly felt an odd, almost sickening feeling so she left the mall's food court at exactly 6:20pm. The gunshots fired at 6:23pm. She had escaped that tragedy only to later die in another shooting. I am still doing my best to make sense of what happened to her.

The Dark Knight Rises (2012)
The superhero movie The Dark Knight Rises is the final part of the Trilogy written and directed by Christopher Nolan. It’s been eight years since the events of the previous film and Batman (Christian Bale) had disappeared. He returns when Gotham City is threatened by a mad man named Bane (Tom Hardy) who begins a violent revolution through immense scale terrorism. Batman is aided by two new allies, Selina Kyle/Catwoman (Anne Hathaway) and Officer John Blake (Joseph Gordon Levitt).
I currently have mixed feelings about the film. There is an excessive amount of violence and killings in the story that may be amplified due to my thoughts on the recent real-life tragedies. On the other hand the cinematic power of heroic images on the screen still inspired a sense of hope and the importance of heroic actions and attitudes. The ending was also very satisfying and despite a long journey of pain and destruction on screen, the legacy of a powerful movie hero and trilogy shines in my memories.
The Legacy of Jessica Ghawl
I believe the legacy of Jessica Ghawl is her story and what she says in her final blog post. It will shine forever in my memories. And to me she is a hero for what she wrote. I will leave you with her powerful, soulful insights she wrote about her experience after escaping the Eaton Centre tragedy…
"I was shown how fragile life was on Saturday. I saw the terror on bystanders' faces. I saw the victims of a senseless crime. I saw lives change. I was reminded that we don't know when or where our time on Earth will end. When or where we will breathe our last breath. For one man, it was in the middle of a busy food court on a Saturday evening.
I say all the time that every moment we have to live our life is a blessing. So often I have found myself taking it for granted. Every hug from a family member. Every laugh we share with friends. Even the times of solitude are all blessings. Every second of every day is a gift. After Saturday evening, I know I truly understand how blessed I am for each second I am given."

Tip#562: See the Wonders Hidden in Front of You - Pleasantville
I've been SEEING wonders since starting the 40-Day Prosperity Plan from The Abundance Book I first mentioned in tip#556. This plan is designed to have you recognize the different types of abundance already around you. For me those epiphany moments were so amazing it's like a magical glow suddenly appearing in front of me!
For example my recent birthday week of celebrations with friends and family was filled with an incredible abundance of food! Every party or private dinner was overflowing with delicious foods, desserts and drink. I was building my AWARENESS that abundance is already in my life...
• My siblings took me to a delicious French restaurant and felt like a VIP!
• My friend and Writer/Live Lighter guru, Steph offered to treat me to a 2 for 1 steak dinner. And when I said I preferred the all-you-can-eat smokehouse pork ribs she said I could have that too! I ate mouth-watering juicy meats for days!
• Another friend took me to an all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant
• I enjoyed my free birthday drink from Starbucks, a Venti Frappuccino!
• One of my favourite restaurants, Swiss Chalet, called me to say I won a free dinner!
Other glowing awareness:
• Abundance of loving friends
• Abundance of contacts in my database (over 2,000)
• Abundance of birthday wishes on my Facebook wall (over 200)
• Abundance of mucus and phlegm (see tip#560)
Pleasantville (1998)
The fantasy, drama Pleasantville is about two modern day teenagers who magically get transported into the 1958 black & white TV sitcom called Pleasantville. David (Tobey Maguire) becomes Bud and Jennifer (Reese Witherspoon) becomes Mary Sue. Both of their knowledge of the real world begin to slowly alter the way the other TV show characters sees life around them. For example when a character experiences a new emotional feeling they see a bright red rose against the black and white background.
All David and Jennifer do is help the TV show characters become AWARE. They help them become more CONSCIOUS of the emotional feelings, desires and passion that's already inside each of them. In doing so the glowing colours of life change their world forever.
Learn to recognize the glowing wonders already in your life. Be aware that abundance is already flowing to you in some form or another. Increasing your awareness of the GIFTS and BLESSINGS in your life right now will lift your spirits AND magnetize more of it! Let your eyes see the glow of wonders right in front of you today!

Tip#561: The Benefits of a Reboot – The Amazing Spider-Man
Reboot: To turn (a computer or operating system) off and then on again; restart
Have you ever had problems with your computer and discovered that the only way to fix it was to turn it off and then restart? If so then you know the benefits of the term "reboot" which can also be applied to areas of your life like career, business, lifestyles and even beliefs. Reboot is now a trend in Hollywood for re-vitalizing movie franchises or characters.
The Dark Knight trilogy starring Christian Bale is a successful example of rebooting the previous Batman series. And the two Sherlock Holmes movies starring Robert Downey Jr. is a reboot or re-imagining of a classic literary character. I am open to movie reboots and yet there was one recent film release I was not enthusiastic about UNTIL I went to see it.
The Amazing Spider-Man (2012)
The movie The Amazing Spider-Man is a reboot of the Spider-Man film franchise starring Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man. The basic premise is intact where the teenager is bitten by a radioactive spider and becomes a superhero. His girlfriend this time is Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) and the villain is The Lizard/Dr. Curt Connors (Rhys Ifans).
I loved the first series starring Tobey Maguire so it was a challenge to accept another actor AND another perspective of the Spider-Man story so soon after the Sam Raimi directed trilogy. I gave it a chance and was very surprised that I enjoyed the new movie with its many motivational messages. What I loved most was the romantic relationship between Peter And Gwen. Their on-screen chemistry is so strong that it was cool to learn that (as of this writing) they became a couple in real-life!
Motivating movie quotes:
"You owe the world your gifts. You just have to figure out how to use them."
"I had a professor once who liked to tell his students that there are only 10 different plots in all of fiction. Well I’m here to tell you he was wrong. There is only one… Who am I?"
We all get stuck someplace in our lives and careers. And sometimes the only way to get unstuck is to reboot our selves, to restart our inner operating systems. Take a lesson from movie reboots where the characters remain the same and yet their stories are re-invented or re-imagined. Reboot your life and you will discover a FRESH perspective of your path to follow!

Tip#560: See Deeper Meaning in Unexpected (& Gross!) Places – The Dictator
Today is the day after my birthday and I started celebrating 3 days before with great friends and family. I've also been feeling blessed at the abundance of birthday wishes that flooded my Facebook wall! And yet through it all I was blowing my nose constantly because of a persistent cold I had.
At times it was pretty gross as the mucus just kept pouring out my nose like there was a mucus machine on mass production mode! And it was really gross talking on the phone with phlegm gurgling up my throat and needing to make disgusting sounds to clear it out! I believed I was clearing energetic junk inside me.
I have been doing a lot of personal development and holistic body healing in the past weeks so I visualized the mucus and phlegm leaving my body contained old, debilitating beliefs. I believe there was a deeper meaning with my unusually long cold and it was to CLEAR the inner crap that's been holding me back in life with every blast of liquid grossness that came out of my face!
The Dictator (2012)
The comedy The Dictator is about the dictator of the fictional Republic of Wadiya visiting the United States. Admiral General Shabazz Aladeen (Sacha Baron Cohen) is a childish, anti-western, anti-Semitic ruler who finds himself forced to live in New York City stripped of his identity. This film was created by and stars the same man who produced Borat so you can expect raunchy humor and over-the-top scenes and dialogue.
There is a point near the end of the movie where Aladeen gives a speech to the United Nations that goes beyond parody and into ironic truth. Aladeen promotes the virtues of dictatorship, drawing unintended parallels to current issues in the United States. And so within all the gross, tasteless and hilarious scenes of this film there lies a serious message.
Be open to insights from unexpected sources like movies and life situations. See deeper meanings just waiting to be recognized in whatever challenges you face. You may discover AHA moments that will make you laugh at where it originated from!

Tip#559: Discover Hidden Gem Movies - Mr. Nobody
My birthday is fast approaching on July 10th and I am celebrating two goals I've achieved so far this year. I have a new Motivatorman website AND I've finished my first eBook which I am giving as a GIFT to anyone around the world. Thanks to my business coach he reminded me that I accomplished big goals I dreamed of doing years ago.
I also love to celebrate hidden gem movies. These are films I've discovered that the general public have never heard of but are rich with insights and motivational messages. I get so excited about these movies that I feel it is my duty to make sure people are aware of these hidden gifts waiting to be discovered!
Mr Nobody (2009)
The science fiction drama Mr Nobody is an epic story starring Jared Leto, Sarah Polley, Diane Kruger and Rhys Ifans. That's all I am going to say! If you loved Inception, Memento and other films that make you pay attention AND challenge the way you think about reality then I highly recommend this movie. It is a stunning cinematic experience you'll want to watch over again! The director's cut is 157 minutes so expect a long journey filled with fantastic quotes such...
"In life you get one take, if it’s bad you just deal with it."
"Every path is the right path."
"It should be written on every schoolroom blackboard: Life is a playground or nothing."
Discovering hidden gem movies can be a real treat for the soul. These can be exciting gifts that light up your day AND deliver empowering, thought-provoking messages. Most importantly these films can help make a positive difference in your life. Be courageous and curious today and discover a hidden gem that you will also celebrate!

Tip#558: Transform Fear into Bliss – Fearless (1993)
For several weeks now I have been facing my deepest fears around lack. Every day I synchronistically encounter someone or something to help me deal with issues such as the lack of money. And I am fully aware that old beliefs and debilitating thoughts must die if I'm to be truly free of fears holding me back in my life and career.
Fearless 1993
The movie Fearless is about Max Klein (Jeff Bridges) who survives a plane crash and sees life completely differently. As the plane was going down he experienced a profound sense of peace when he accepted that he was going to die. In that state of calm Max was able to guide survivors to safety. He later carried his newfound fearlessness to other areas of his life and to others in need.
Max's real challenge was to integrate his new mindset with his old life as a husband and father. What spoke to me the loudest from the film was the moment he accepted his fate and became at peace. He felt no fear, only a sense of bliss. It's like he saw God. I've experienced that many times during seemingly hopeless times in my life so this movie hero was reminding me of what to do with my current challenge.
Sometimes accepting your problems is the first step to overcoming it. Surrendering or handing over your challenges to something bigger than yourself can transform your fears and let peace in. Be inspired to know that when you can let go of fear a profound sense of bliss is waiting to embrace you.

Tip#557: Learn To Let Go, Part 2 – Ted
As I write this I am on day 13 of the 40 Day Prosperity Plan I mentioned in the previous post tip#556. This plan asks you to let go of all previous beliefs about money and where abundance comes from. Some of this letting go I find is easy and yet some areas feel like jumping off a cliff. I'm learning that it comes down to having faith that all will be well when I jump. That must be why it's called a leap of faith!
Ted (2012)
The comedy Ted is about a 35 year old man John (Mark Wahlberg) and his childhood teddy bear named Ted (Seth MacFarlane) who came to life from a childhood wish. John must face letting go of this best friend of over 20 years in order to "grow up" and marry his love of 4 years Lori (Mila Kunis). There are hilarious moments in this comedy as well as a deluge of pop culture references from the past. See: uncensored trailer
Please note that this is an extremely raunchy adult comedy that comes from Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane. And despite the deluge of politically incorrect scenes and dialogue there is still the timeless message that in order to move forward AND grow you've got to let go of something. Seeing this movie when I did was a huge synchronicity AND a reminder for what I must do in order to move towards my dreams and goals.
The thought of letting go in some area of your life may feel uncomfortable and frightening. That's the sign you are about to do something life-changing! And if you must, just take baby steps like becoming aware or accepting the THOUGHT of letting go and that will be a positive step. Every little step you take is still moving you forward to your dreams and goals!
