It's been really fun connecting with people via Facebook who were in the G20 Reunion photo shoot with me that appeared on the cover of The Toronto Star. Despite us being corralled by riot police a year ago it was fun meeting these people in person. We were bonded by a common experience. See photos: Click here
And for 2 weeks, I've been receiving numerous movie recommendations that show GREAT LEADERSHIP via my Facebook and LinkedIn groups (see tip#466). Everyday someone new across North America and across the world sends me a movie choice since I posted my request. I feel a surge of excitement for this social media exercise because it just stems from my passion for movies. Sharing my love for films is connecting me with like-minded people around this planet!
Big (Extended Edition) 1988
The movie Big has been released with over 20 minutes of extra footage. If you are a fan I highly recommend seeing! The film is about a 13 year old boy named Josh (David Moscow) who makes a wish that he was big and then ages to 30 overnight (Tom Hanks). While waiting for the solution to turn him back to normal Josh takes a data entry job at a toy company. His position there changes when Josh discovers the FAO Schwarz toy store.
Despite looking like an adult, Josh is still 13 years old and follows his passion and plays exuberantly in the toy store. The owner of the toy company he works at, Mr. MacMillan (Robert Loggia), finds him there and is immediately interested in what he thinks of all the toys. They come across a giant electronic keyboard on the floor and Mr. MacMillan is taken by Josh's childlike enthusiasm when he starts to play "Heart and Soul". They play the tune together and then "Chopsticks" in this now famous scene. See on Youtube: Click here
All Josh was doing was being his authentic self and expressing his passion for play. Mr. MacMillan immediately promotes Josh to Vice President in charge of Product Development. It's a dream job come true! He gets to test toys all day long and get paid for it. Let this inspire you that passion has a powerful way to connect you with like-minded people AND achieve your career goals. Expressing your passion is like a magnet that attracts others to your positivity, enthusiasm and natural skill sets!
What passions did you have as a child that you still do today?
Are you still doing what you love as a child today? Is your current job incorporating something love to do? Are you still indulging in a hobby, sport or pastime you loved growing up? Please share your thoughts in the comment section below OR click on the blog title above and scroll to bottom.

Tip#468: Animate Your Optimism - Disney’s Tangled
I've had an exciting week being featured in the media! I was in a group photo on the cover of The Toronto Star, Saturday June 25th with other people caught in the G20 riot police kettling that happened a year ago (see tip#369). I was also interviewed on CIUT FM's Career Buzz Show by hosts Louisa and Tim Jewell. We discussed new research from a book called The Optimism Bias by Tali Sharot that proves we are all hardwired for optimism.
I've always believed I was hardwired for optimism. Some people are surprised that I didn't feel any fear with my G20 riot police experience. It was because I was able to remain resilient and positive. I knew everything was going to be okay. I had also spent years increasing my indestructible optimism! On the radio show I said that building this positive mindset was about feeding your mind with positive words and images AND movies to help you visualize positive realities you desired. Repetition was key.
Tangled 2010
The movie Tangled is Disney's 50th animated feature and first to fully use computer generated images. It is based on the classic fairy tale Rapunzel with Mandy Moore voicing the lead character. Rapunzel has been kept imprisoned in a tower all her life and dreams of leaving to discover the meaning of lights in the sky that always appear on her birthday. She maintains her optimism to achieve this dream despite people trying to hold her back.
The movie is also a musical that is classic Disney with songs that are full of life, positivity and joy. Watching films like this over and over again is what helps increase your positive emotional energy. And this positive energy is what can train your mind to behave with optimism when faced with adversities.
Disney's actual mission statement is simple: "To make people happy". Having an optimistic mindset is about practicing feeling positive and having a happy frame of mind even when your current situation is otherwise. So feed your mind daily with positive words, images and movies that lift you up!
What is your favourite Disney animated feature?

Tip#467: Is This The Meaning of Life? - The Tree of Life
I just saw the film The Tree of Life that won the top prize recently at Cannes Film Festival. It also drew prolonged boos when it opened up the festival which told me I had to see it for myself! Hours later I am still doing my best to absorb what I saw. It was definitely a massive unexpected journey and dreamlike experience.
I had mixed feeling blogging about the film like I did with Green Lantern (see tip#466). And yet it took me back in time to my own childhood in a deeper way than the Super 8 film (see #465). It made me think so much about the happy magical moments of being a kid alone or with friends, loving moments with my Mom or Dad as well as unpleasant times being disciplined. It really made me remember my life with my family. And yet the movie was so much more.
The Tree of Life 2011
The movie The Tree of Life chronicles the origins and meaning of life through the eyes of a 1950's Texas family (Brad Pitt and Jessica Chastain). It is a long, surreal dreamlike movie with short passages of poetic dialogue. You'll be taken through the stunning visuals of time and space as well as the birth and upbringing of this family's 3 boys.
This is a very meditative, abstract movie and it will be sure to move you deep inside if you surrender to the experience. Even the movie posters had some of the most intriguing images I've ever seen. It is getting rave reviews and yet with all reviews you just have to go and experience a movie for yourself. After all the meaning of life is something you have to discover for yourself.
What movies help you ponder the meaning of life?
What films help you see the bigger picture of your own life? Please share your thoughts in the comment section below OR click on the blog title above and scroll to bottom.

Tip#466: Visualize What You Want In Your Mind - Green Lantern
I continue to be extremely focused and productive to take my motivational career to the next level. And it's all because I am able to clearly visualize what I want to achieve. As mentioned in previous blog post #465 it is because of T. Harv Eker's Millionaire Mind Intensive workshop I attended just over a week ago. For 3 long days there was an abundance of success stories, business strategies and income generating methods presented that gave my mind exciting goals and targets to aim for.
One of those visions was to create a downloadable book (eBook) collecting movie recommendations that show GREAT LEADERSHIP from professionals around the world. Within hours of posting this request on my Facebook wall I received movie tips from Toronto film critic Richard Crouse and the real Homer Hickam from the film October Sky starring Jake Gyllenhaal. What I pictured in my mind was this downloadable book was exciting and helping people worldwide who need motivation AND also help contributors get their name visible and viral through the eBook.
"Anything I see in my mind I can create."
Green Lantern
Green Lantern 2011
The movie Green Lantern is based on the DC Comic about a test pilot named Hal Jordan (Ryan Reynolds) who is given a powerful ring to then join an intergalactic group of peacekeepers. The ring allows Jordan to create anything he can see in his mind like create a giant fist for fighting, brick walls to protect himself and anything else he can think of. He is only limited by his imagination.
This concept has always excited me because I am a visual problem solver and visualizing positive results and desires is what helped me overcome challenges such as losing my home (see tip#400) and facing G20 riot police (see tip#369) last year. It's what all motivational speakers like Tony Robbins, Bob Proctor and Napoleon Hill have been saying for years that thought and visualizing is how manifesting dreams and goals begin.
This movie is receiving a thrashing from film critics and I agree with most of them I'm sad to say. However the positive review by Ain't It Cool.com founder Harry Knowles captures the same spirit of why I'm focusing on featuring it on my blog. Read: Click here
Despite the movie having a flawed script and uneven flow I believe this superhero movie has important and powerful messages for achieving your desires. Green Lantern's power is the perfect mirror for you to find ways to visualize what you want so you have a target and primary objective to aim for.
What movies help you visualize GREAT LEADERSHIP?

Tip#465: The Power of a Timeless Summer - Millionaire Mind Intensive – Super 8
The richness of the sunshine, bright blue skies and juicy green trees outside my window truly reflects how energized, focused and enthusiastic I am about accelerating forward with my dreams and goals! And it's thanks to the recent 3 day Millionaire Mind Intensive workshop I attended. My mind feels clear because part of the exercises was going back to our childhoods to identify and transform any situations that caused current blocks for receiving wealth, success and happiness into our lives.
What I unearthed were only happy memories. Growing up I LOVED making model airplanes, spaceships and Hollywood monsters that glowed in the dark like the Hunchback of Notre Dame. In my teens I LOVED listening to E.L.O. and LOVED making super 8 films with my siblings and friends. And I was deeply inspired by Steven Spielberg movies like E.T. and Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
This is why I feel that the new movie Super 8 was made specifically for me because all of these happy memories growing up are ALL in this amazing film. It felt so nostalgic that you can taste the juiciness of a timeless summer in the late 70's. And it is extremely synchronistic that I see this right after attending the Millionaire Mind Intensive. It was a real gift.
Super 8 2011
The movie Super 8 is about a group of young teens who witness and film a train derailment and later experience strange, unearthly events. The whole feeling of the movie celebrates the innocence, thrills, imagination and awe-inspiring films of Steven Spielberg's early works. With J.J. Abrams directing, Spielberg produced a powerful AND empowering cinematic experience especially for those who had happy memories growing up in the late 70's.
This movie touched me deeply because it had so many elements of my childhood and teen years. Ultimately there was a message it gave me about letting go of my past even though they were happy memories. I now know I need room to create more happy memories like the success and wealth wanting to come to me!

Tip#464: Become A People Magnet – Crocodile Dundee
I've just completed a busy week where I attended T. Harv Eker's Millionaire Mind Intensive for 2nd time and co-facilitated a people skills workshop called Become A People Magnet with the great Tammy Cunningham. At both events I met some amazing individuals I know will become good friends and great business contacts.
See photos from Become A People Magnet workshop: Click here
Making meaningful connections was what the Become A People Magnet workshop was all about. We even had 3 delicious kinds of chocolate dipped strawberries to help people bond (thanks Tammy)! Also Tammy and I are both energetic and playful when we are in social situations and we simply shared our keys to magnetizing meaningful conversations and connections. Keys included:
• Identify and share your passions with others
• You have 2 ears and 1 mouth so listen twice as much as you talk
• Acknowledge others
• Make someone's day through meaningful compliments
• Be aware of your body language and those of others
Crocodile Dundee 1986
The movie Crocodile Dundee is about a crocodile hunter named Michael "Crocodile" Dundee (Paul Hogan) who travels for the first time from the Australian outback to New York City. Dundee brings with him his small town warmth and neighborly charm. Wherever he went he always made instant friends. People wanted to be around him and were quick to support his needs.
Dundee had a magnetic personality because he was always authentic and true to himself. He gave compliments. He listened and acknowledged what people were saying and doing. He was aware of other people's body language. Even during rush hour on the sidewalks of Manhattan he did his best to say a friendly hello to every single person he was passing!
Dundee is a great cinematic role model to inspire you to hone your own people skills and cultivate meaningful relationships into your life. Magnetizing what you want starts with you. As Ghandi said, "Be the change you want to see in the world."

Tip#463: Be Resilient and Positive - G20 Toronto - King Arthur
I recently gave a 2nd interview to Citytv News reporter Francis D'Souza about my G20 riot police experience. It made me ponder once again what the higher purpose was of that unpleasant experience that took place almost a year ago. The answer finally came when the reporter asked "Did this experience change your life in any way?"
I answered "It showed me I can be resilient and I can maintain my positivity in the face of what I feel were these big, huge bullies." When I saw myself say this I felt a light bulb go over my head and knew I could teach others how to be resilient and positive when facing their own adversities. I was excited! I could give lectures and show the video of myself facing the G20 riot police and inspire individuals to find their inner strengths.
See Citytv News interview: Click here
King Arthur 2004
The movie King Arthur is meant to be a historically accurate version of the Arthurian legends based on new archaeological findings. It depicts Arthur (Clive Owen) as a Roman officer rather than a medieval knight. Here Arthur demonstrates his resilience, positivity and other great leadership qualities when faced with enormous challenges.
Arthur also shows much faith and an inner strength of courage whenever he and his fellow knights faced overwhelming odds. In one scene he stands defiant in front of a massive army of Saxons even though he was alone. I've said before that my superhero power is indestructible optimism and in this movie Arthur demonstrates this power very well. It's an inner power that anyone, including you, can learn to grow within yourself.
What inner strength would you like to unleash?
What inner strength would you like to increase? Resilience? Positivity? Faith? Courage? Indestructible Optimism? Please share your thoughts in the comment section below OR click on the blog title above and scroll to bottom.

Tip#462: What is Your Super Power? - X-Men: First Class
I grew up loving X-Men comics. They were my absolutely favourite and, of course, I was excited when they were turned into a series of big Hollywood movies. During a recent radio interview on Small Business Big Ideas Show with David Cohen I was overflowing with excitement over the latest film X-Men First Class.
You can see a video I produced with my radio interview on upcoming summer movies. See: Click here
This latest movie fully captures my passion for X-Men comics and now the world can experience it! There are fantastic special effects, creative superhero powers and colourful characters that you can identify with. There are also many empowering messages such as: Be who you truly are inside; Accept your differences and see them as gifts.
X-Men: First Class 2011
The movie X-Men: First Class is a prequel to the series of X-Men films introducing the origins of Professor X (James McAvoy) and villain/friend Magneto (Michael Fassbender) and the first X-Men team. The story explores what it is to be different and wanting to be accepted by others and society. It also explores how to develop and hone special, unique skills and gifts in order to help others.
One character I identified with that exudes the magic of his comic book persona is Sean Cassidy (Caleb Landry Jones) a.k.a. Banshee. His super power is his voice that can project sonic vibrations and shatter glass, act as a sonar and enable him to fly. It mirrored my own super powers of using my own voice to motivate people (my other super power is indestructible optimism!) This film will inspire you to look at your own abilities and differences as a gift.
What super powers would you love to have?
If you had super powers what would they be? If you were an X-Men what power would you have to help people or help the planet? Please share your thoughts in the comment section below OR click on the blog title above and scroll to bottom.

Tip#461: Have Fun In The Process - Bowfinger
I love watching movies AND I love making movies. I recently edited a new short video promo for my lectures, keynotes and seminars. Every step of the process was a joy even though I sifted through 6 hours of footage from 2 cameras of a 3 hour workshop. In the end it was a passion and therefore so much fun creating a 4 minute video.

The fun I have editing videos for myself and for other speakers reminded me of the filmmaking fun of the movie Bowfinger. I always loved this film especially now that I'm looking for a new business team to help take my motivational services to the next level. This film helps me to visualize the fun, dedication and creative problem solving skills of a team achieving a huge goal.
Bowfinger 1999
The comedy Bowfinger is about a down-and-out filmmaker named Bobby Bowfinger (Steven Martin) who goes after an impossible dream of making a movie with a famous action star Kit Ramsey (Eddie Murphy) without him knowing he is being filmed. Bowfinger gathers together actors and production people who all believe in Bowfinger's vision even though they do not know his whole moviemaking process.
Murphy also plays another character named Jiff and his first scene always amazes me with his endearing performance of a sweet naïve nerd. Jiff is just one character amongst others that come together and create something spectacular. It reminds me that big goals can be achieved with the help of like-minded people AND that you can have a lot of fun in the process!
What movies inspire fun for you?
Do you have a favourite movie that feels fun? Is there a film that makes you laugh with how fun the characters are? Please share your thoughts in the comment section below OR click on the blog title above and scroll to bottom.
