Tip#420: Something Magical Can Happen – The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader

Despite a re-energizing Christmas vacation, I felt a deep sense of fear and anxiety in my first week of the New Year. The current place I've been living in was just for 6 months which ends January 31st (see tip#405). This means I need to find a new home in 3 weeks.

Ted Williams Story

What helped me deal with these heavy feelings was to remind myself of all I'd overcome in last year's life changes (see tip#400). I was also moved to tears when I saw Ted Williams interviewed on the Today Show. He's a homeless man who's YouTube video showed off his "golden voice" and became an instant online sensation.

Seeing him rise out of his darkness to receiving countless job offers reminded me that something magical could happen at ANY time. See interview: Click here

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader 2010

The movie, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader is the 3rd in a series of films taking place where magic happens. It's an enchanted land where children play central roles to overcome challenges both outside themselves and within.

Of the four main characters in the previous films, it is Lucy (Georgie Henley) and her brother Edmund (Skandar Keynes) that return to Narnia to help Prince Caspian (Ben Barnes) aboard the royal ship The Dawn Treader. Along with their younger cousin Eustace (Will Poulter) they learn to face the dark sides of themselves.

A good friend highly recommended I see this movie because of the heavy feelings I was experiencing. My intuition told me to see it as soon as possible. I was thoroughly inspired and uplifted by so many aspects of the film. First, I felt I was taken to another world and second there were many motivational quotes like this one...

"To defeat the darkness out there, you must defeat the darkness inside yourself."

Remember that any darkness you face will eventually pass. Take time to remember other times in your life where you felt despair or angst and remind yourself that somehow you overcame those challenges.

Feed your imagination with success stories of others who found joyful success out of their darkness. Let them remind you that you are never alone and that something magical can happen for you too.

I'm not sure that there was anything 'magical' about Ted William's situation. Here is a man who looked at his life, after years of drug and alcohol abuse, and said 'enough'. He is a very skilled voice talent and had no shame standing on the side of the road asking not for a hand out, but for work. A reporter from a local newspaper saw his ability and did him a favour by publishing his story. Does Ted Williams deserve all of the job offers coming his way? Of course he does, but not because of anything 'magical'. It is because Ted worked hard to get himself out of a dire situation. People should be inspired by his effort.
