Tip#15: Have A Goal - Spider-Man 2

If you are lucky to be in vacation mode during this holiday season then why not think of a new year's resolution for yourself. Play with the possibility for some positive change by focusing on at least one goal you'd like to achieve when the new year comes.

My workshops start off by asking people what their life or career goals are. For some individuals it comes easy to put into words what it is they want to achieve. Sometimes I get someone who can't think of any goals at all. For those people I always suggest they write down that their goal is TO HAVE A GOAL. It is an ironic but valid start.

Examples of goals:
• My goal for the new year is to increase my income.
• My goal for the new year is to be more self-confident.
• My goal for the new year is to have more supportive relationships.

Write out a similar goal statement for yourself. Use positive sounding words and what you want for yourself. Start with, "My goal for the new year is to..."

Spider-Man 2 (2004)

The superhero film, Spider-Man 2 continues the story of a young man possessing super spider powers and how difficult he finds to manage life as a student and hero. In this chapter he battles Doc Ock with visually stunning special effects.

I love the line in the movie Spider-Man 2after Peter Parker loses his powers and wants to get them back. He says to himself with a keen look in his eyes, "Strong focus on what I want." With that statement, Parker begins the first step to accomplishing his goal.

Part of the appeal of Peter Parker is that even though he is a superhero he is still human with all the same human flaws we all have. He too has ordinary things in life that he yearns to have in order to be happier. He too has goals of making a living and to express himself to the one he loves. Check out this film if you want to motivate yourself with your goals.

So start focusing on what you want. Write it down. Writing is the first step in manifesting into reality the thoughts in your head. Your mind is a powerful generator of thoughts and energy. Harness it and imagine a more satisfying life or career for yourself now.

"You need a plan to build a house. To build a life, it is even more important to have a plan or goal."

You are so right.

I did this at the beginning of 2006 and wrote down 4 things that I would like to acheive for the year. 2 of those 4 things happened in an amazing way, and I also achieved things that I did not even write down. It is amazing.

Thanks for your different messages.
